    Kauhajoki celebrate Korisliiga title - May 19, 2018


    Kauhajoki - Salon Vilpas 99-96 OT

    Kauhajoki outgunned Salon Vilpas in overtime in Game 6 to celebrate Korisliiga title. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-13. But Salon Vilpas won second period 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Salon Vilpas used huge pressure winning it 32-26 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 12-15. Kauhajoki made 35-of-37 free shots (94.6 percent) during the game. 29 personal fouls committed by Salon Vilpas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Kelvin Lewis (195-88, college: Houston) who scored 30 points (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). Swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: Blacktop Management) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Jaylon Brown (183-94, college: Evansville) who recorded 29 points and 4 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and guard Tobin Carberry (193-91, college: LIU Post, agency: HMS) added 24 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
