Brose Baskets claimed the fourth straight BBL title. They swept the title series versus EWE Baskets following a tough overtime win in Bamberg. Bostjan Nachbar (207-PF-80) scored 20 points to pace Brose Baskets to the key victory tonight. Oldenburg had their backs against the wall after back-to-back losses in the first two games. But they started strong at the hostile territory. The visitors gained a 17:13 lead after the opening frame. EWE Baskets maintained the lead throughout the second period. They ensured a 37:32 halftime lead. Bostjan Nachbar and Alex Renfroe (191-PG-86, college: Belmont) denied the deficit putting the hosts up by one 40:39 midway through the third term. The lead changed hands for several times before Mustafa Abdul-Hamid made it 53:49 for the visitors. Casey Jacobsen (198-G/F-81, college: Stanford) trimmed the gap at 2-point mark 51:53 at the third break. The teams continued to go toe for toe throughout the fourth period. Bostjan Nachbar almost singlehandedly put the hosts in front 70:68. Adam Chubb (208-F/C-81, agency: Pro One Sports, college: Pennsylvania) followed an offensive rebound with a put back to make it 70:70. Chris Kramer (191-G-88, college: Purdue) sank two free throws to give Oldenburg a 72:70 lead with under two minutes remaining. Bostjan Nachbar evened the game but Adam Chubb sank another basket to pull the visitors in front 74:72 with just six seconds left in regulation. Brose Baskets set up a three-point attempt for Casey Jacobsen. He missed it but Maik Zirbes tipped the ball in and sent the game into overtime. Casey Jacobsen set the tone with a three-pointer early in the extra period. Bostjan Nachbar soon stretched the lead to 7 points 85:78. Dru Joyce (183-PG-85, agency: LUMANI 10.7, college: Akron) put EWE Baskets within three on several occasions but Casey Jacobsen nailed three free throws late in overtime to seal the victory for Brose Baskets. He finished with 15 points, while Alex Renfroe added 14 points for the winning side. Chris Kramer, Dru Joyce and Adam Chubb answered with 16 points each for EWE Baskets.
Alba triumphs at Beko BBL Pokal 2013 in O2 World. The home side of the Top Four overcame Ratiopharm Ulm 85:67 in the Final game. Ratiopharm Ulm looked better in the first half and managed to take 1-point lead at the halftime. The tempo continued on a high note in the third period and ALBA managed to post 24-20 in it for 3-point lead at the end of the period. The rest of the game the court was dominated by only, one team, ALBA. The latter erupted with a massive 23-8 surge and clinched the title of the game. Heiko Schaffartzik nailed the last three-pointer with the buzzer for the final success. Zach Morley (203-F-83, college: Wisconsin) top-scored for the winners with 24 points and Deon Thompson (203-F-88, college: N.Carolina) nailed 20. Je'Kel Foster (191-G-83, college: Ohio St.) delivered 12, whilst DaShaun Wood (185-PG-85, college: Wright St.) brought 10. John Bryant (208-C-87, college: Santa Clara) ended up with 21 points and Steven Esterkamp (198-F-81, agency: Limelight Hoops, college: Ohio) had 13. Team International wins All Star Game against Team National. The winners needed a strong first half and escaped with an easy 113:95 win. Team International erupted with 31-16 lead and never looked behind after. They added 34-22 in the second frame and enjoyed 65:38 halftime advantage. Team National managed however to seal two victories in the second half. They won the third period 25-21 and finished the game with 32-27 in the last stanza. Team National made 43 Total Rebounds, while Team International had 42. After the starters and coaches were named last week through the fan balloting, now it was time to see what kind of taste the two coaches would have in their teams. Brose Baskets clinch Beko BBL Champions Cup 2012. The defending champions overcame Ratiopharm Ulm 102:98 in overtime. More than 6400 spectators saw a wonderful start of 2012/2013 season. Brose Baskets started the game with 20-12 and led 6 points at the halftime. Ratiopharm Ulm was too far to give up and won the third period 25-20 and reduced to 1 point after three quarters. Moreover the team tied the game at 85:85. In overtime Brose Baskets looked better in extra time and won 17-13.
